Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based non-profit international organization. In 1981, Paducah-McCracken County became the seventh Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the world and the first in the state of Kentucky.
Habitat operates through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations to build and rehabilitate simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families. Each family who purchases a home must also complete 500 hours of their own “sweat equity” into building their house and the house of others.
Current volunteer opportunities include laborers with knowledge of construction, electrical, plumbing and painting. The Habitat office is also in need of volunteers to answer phones in the weekday mornings.
